Tohoku Eartquake 25.03.11

25/03/2011

Dear friends, customers, partners,

Once again thank you very much for the many supporting messages we received following the disaster by the Tohoku earthquake.

Today, 25 March 2011, two weeks have passed since the quake and devastating tsunami hit Japan. The harsh situation in Northern Japan and the nuclear uncertainties in Fukushima are still our daily concerns, but trainspot has resumed work earlier this week. Contrary to what you might have read or seen in foreign media, life in Tokyo is not that much affected.

Via some of our projects, we are trying to start up of a few relief funds (details coming soon), but in case you want to help the victims immediately, donations can be made to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Tohoku Eartquake 11.03.11

12/03/2011

Dear friends, customers, partners,

We would like to thank you very much for the many messages we received following the disasters by the Tohoku earthquake.

At trainspot we are all doing fine, but please note that due to the uncertain developments at the nuclear power plants, the power cuts and the possibility of more aftershocks, we might not be fully operational. The coming days our office will be a mobile one. Our office phone will be forwarded to our mobile phones and of course you can always reach us by email (info@trainspot.jp). We do our best to reply promptly.

Our thoughts are very much with the people who are affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami. If you want to help the victims, donations can made to the Japanese Red Cross Society via following website http://goo.gl/saigai If you want to follow the news about the developments in Japan, please take a look and listen to NHK World. We really hope the situation in Japan is stabilizing soon and once again, thank you all very much for your concerns and support.

Very much appreciated!

Let's stay connected via facebook, twitter and skype.

What is trainspot?

12/01/2011

01/01/2011; trainspot has entered its 5th year of… doing what?

Although we think you know us, we noticed still many are asking what kind of animal we are. We have to admit that ‘Creative Concept Marketing’ is probably not as clear as a bell.

After 4 years, it might not be too late to dot the i’s and cross the t’s.

So what the heck trainspot is doing? Well, most people know us from the great events we organize. Take for example our most recent one, the Belgian Beer Weekend.

But have you ever wondered who came up with the concept? Well, trainspot.
Who has looked after financing & sponsoring? Trainspot.
Who has developed the website and SNS? Uhm… Trainspot.
Who has made the print communication? Trainspot.
Who has taken care of the venue and branding? Trainspot.
Who has devised the marketing and PR strategy? Sorry, but trainspot again.
Who has taken care of actually all the rest? T.R.A.I.N.S.P.O.T.

So we can offer you all the individual building blocks for a creative marketing & communications strategy, and, if needed, you can also ask us to put it all together in events, campaigns and promotions.

Like a famous car manufacturer once said: “A V-12 engine is only as good as the combination of its 12 cylinders”.

… In case you still don’t understand what we can do for you, please give us a call or drop an email. Then we definitely have to sit around the table.

trainspot factory grand opening!

27/03/2010

After 2 months of ex- and intensive reforming, we can put the drills, screwdrivers, saws, paint brushes, pincers away (... for a while)! Trainspot factory opened its doors on 25 March in the presence of 150 great guests. Alea iacta est, Rome wasn't built in a day.

In 2009 we already said that 2010 would be the year of reform....

Well, at trainspot we take the bull by the horns, and decided to reform our office. Not the one in upscale posh Mita, but our new one in downtown thriving Asakusabashi. We see it big and and didn't want to have just a floor, but all floors, an entire building; trainspotfactory!

trainspotfactory is our very own sweatshop, hideaway, playground, crib, nerve centre, cinema, toolshop, cafeteria, warehouse, studio and headquarters in Tokyo since February 2010. Becoming a new landmark in Tokyo!

Resident photographer

20/01/2010

Over the past years we have collaborated with great photographers and we wanted to take their work in our website. After all, photography communicates a lot.
The background, or actually foreground images of the site are selected by our "resident photographers" and will be changed regularly to make the site also more interesting for our frequent visitors (yes, we do care about you).

Current images by Bernard Languillier; selection of his photography about Tokyo.

Bernard is a Belgian, born in the early seventies, living in Japan for over a decade. As long as we have known Bernard, we've seen him more often on a Japanese mountain trail than in urban forest Tokyo. No wonder his photography includes some great landscapes of a seemingly forgotten Japan. Nevertheless the images we haven choosen here are all about bustling Tokyo and its nightly brightness! The other side of mountaineer photographer Bernard we didn't know about. Bernard has worked with trainspot for old Embassy and some private projects.
